TEXAS STATE UNIVERSITY POLICE DEPT. - FLEET OPERATIONS

I went to work for the Texas State University - San Marcos Police Dept. in August of 2000 (then Southwest Texas University Police Dept.) as a Fleet Manager.  My job was to oversee the maintenance, functionallity, and installation of police equipment on the police department's 20+ vehicles.  The department is broken into genaral divisions: Police, Parking, Security.  The Police side is similair to that of any other small police department in the state.  Inside the Police side are smaller divisions that include, patrol, investigations, crime prevention, communications, records, and training.  There are 30 TCLEOSE licensed persons that include 1 chief, 2 captains, 6 seargents, 3 investigators and the rest police officers.  The police side functions 24/7.  The patrol function is to enforce federal, state, city laws on campus and off campus in the entire county.  The parking side consists of approximately 18 non sworn civilian employees that write parking tickets, tow illegally parked vehicles, and perform parking duties at special events.  The Security side consists of 8 non sworn civilian employees who work at night.  They write parking tickets, patrol campus buildings, and lock buildings at night. 

 I am now a police officer in this department.  I still oversee the fleet operations of the department.  This is a running list of the vehicles I maintain.
